Rupee rises by 2 paise at 83.30 per dollar in early trade

The rupee rose by two paise to 83.30 against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday amid softening of crude oil prices and gains in local stock markets.
Forex traders said the rupee’s sentiment remained boosted despite foreign fund outflows as the US dollar weakened against key global rivals.
In the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 83.30 against the dollar, which is an increase of two paise from the previous closing price. The rupee had closed at 83.32 against the American currency on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the dollar index, which reflects the position of the US dollar against six major currencies of the world, fell by 0.17 percent to 103.74.
Global oil benchmark Brent crude was trading 1.45 percent lower at $80.77 per barrel. According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 306.56 crore on Wednesday.
