Wedding Season: It is expected that this year around 38 lakh marriages are going to take place in India between today and December 15. Due to this, business worth lakhs of crores is expected to happen.
After record sales in the festive season of Diwali, the business community is fully prepared to meet the demand of consumers in the wedding season starting from November 23. Traders’ organization Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has expressed hope that in the upcoming wedding season starting from November 23, about 38 lakh marriages will be solemnized across the country, which will bring about Rs 4.74 lakh crore worth of goods and services in the country. There will be business.
CAT said that the expenditure related to wedding shopping and purchase of various services by consumers this season is about Rs 1 lakh crore more than last year. These estimates are based on data received from trade bodies and stakeholders of goods and services in 30 cities of different states.
CAT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said it has been estimated that around 38 lakh marriages will take place during this period (November 23-December 15) and the total expenditure will be around Rs 4.7 lakh crore. He said that last year about 32 lakh marriages took place and the total expenditure was Rs 3.75 lakh crore. So, this year (spending) is expected to increase by approximately Rs 1 lakh crore which is a good sign for the Indian economy and retail business.
Kat said that the wedding season is starting tomorrow from Devuthan Ekadashi, 23rd November, which will continue till 15th December. The marriage dates in November are 23,24,27,28,29, while the marriage dates in December are 3,4,7,8,9 and 15. Praveen Khandelwal said that four lakh marriages are expected to take place in Delhi alone this season, which is expected to generate a business of about Rs 1.25 lakh crore.
