Russia China alliance is in danger after Russian troops accidentally attack Chinese consulate in Ukraine

Moscow: The Russian army has launched fresh attacks in the Ukrainian city of Odessa. But this time such a mistake has been made for which the friendship between Russia and China can be punished. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s troops mistakenly targeted part of the Chinese consulate during the attacks in Odessa. After this mistake, its alliance with China is in danger. On this incident, Ukraine’s Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov has said that the alliance between China and Russia has come under threat several times in the last four months. He cited several incidents questioning the relationship between the two countries. However, nothing has been said from the Russian side on this incident yet.

The grain exported to China was also destroyed
Reznikov wrote on Twitter, ‘On May 16, Russia attacked Kiev with Kinzhal missiles while the Chinese ambassador was visiting the Ukrainian capital.’ He then reported that on July 19, Russia destroyed 60,000 tons of Ukrainian grain, some of which was to be exported to China. Then on July 20, a Russian missile and drone attack on Odessa resulted in damage to the Chinese consulate building in a residential area. He said that this is a short history of friendship without boundaries. In February 2022, Putin was meeting with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping just a few weeks before he launched the attacks on Ukraine. At that time Putin had declared that there is no limit to the friendship between the two countries.

China is keeping a close watch
Reiterating its neutrality, China has urged both sides to hold talks to agree on a peace settlement. A spokesman for China’s foreign ministry confirmed that a Chinese consulate building in Nakhimova Lane was attacked. Russia targeted the southwestern port of Odessa with a barrage of missiles on Thursday night. China maintained that the embassy staff had left the premises long ago and no one was hurt. He said in a statement that China is closely monitoring the developments and is in contact with relevant parties. China says it will take all necessary measures to protect Chinese institutions and citizens in Ukraine.

Responding to the Kerch bridge attack!
The attack is believed to be a response to the attack earlier this week. The Kerch bridge linking Crimea with Russia was targeted in that attack and has been severely damaged. At least two people were killed in the attacks in Odessa. Ukrainian officials said that in the nearby city of Mykolaiv, which is close to the Black Sea, at least 19 people were injured, including a child. Food prices in both countries have risen sharply following attacks on Ukraine’s grain export infrastructure.
