Moscow. Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday revealed his plans to deploy strategic nuclear weapons in neighboring Belarus. Putin said the plan was a retaliatory response to Britain’s plan to supply Ukraine with “depleted uranium” ammunition. Russia claims that these munitions are equipped with a nuclear component. Putin said in an interview with Russia’s state television that Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has been demanding these weapons for a long time.
He said that the construction of appropriate structures for the storage of these weapons in Belarus would be completed by July 1.
