Russia Ukraine war Attack on crimean bridge by ukraine know the story of longest bridge of Europe

Russia blames Ukraine for both Monday’s explosion and the one in October. A spokesman for the Ukrainian security service did not directly accept responsibility on Monday, but said details about the explosion would be released after Ukraine won the war. The 19 kilometer long bridge across the Kerch Strait connects the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. Both road and rail traffic operates on its different sections.
Bridge work started in 2016
The bridge is vital to maintaining Russia’s military operations in southern Ukraine. This bridge is the longest in Europe and it is a matter of great pride in Russia. Construction began in 2016 and took more than two years to complete, nearly two years after Russia annexed Crimea. The speed of construction was impressive, but some critics questioned whether it was designed and built in haste. The bridge was built despite strong objections from Ukraine and is the clearest and most persistent reminder of Russia’s claim that Crimea is legitimately part of Russia.
Putin traveled through the bridge
President Vladimir Putin traveled over the bridge at its formal opening. Putin has good relations with construction giant Arkady Rotenberg, whose company won the $3.5 billion contract for the bridge. Rail traffic on the bridge was reportedly restored within hours on Monday, but it is unclear when full road traffic service will be restored. Russian officials condemned Monday’s explosion on the bridge, but did not immediately specify retaliatory measures. However, Russia has responded to other Ukrainian attacks with cruise missiles and drone attacks.
