Munich. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar met his Palestinian counterpart Riyad al-Maliki on Sunday and discussed the current situation in war-torn Gaza. Jaishankar is in Germany to attend the Munich Security Conference. Sharing a photo of the meeting, the minister wrote on ‘X’, “It was nice to meet Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki. The current situation in Gaza was discussed.” India has been pushing for a two-state solution to the Palestine issue for several decades.

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar met his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Norway, Portugal, Poland and Belgium and discussed bilateral relations and global issues such as the situation in West Asia and multilateralism. Jaishankar is in Germany to attend the prestigious Munich Security Conference. The Munich Security Conference is the world’s leading forum for discussing international security. He held “meaningful talks” with his Saudi Arabian counterpart Faisal bin Farhan al-Saud on the sidelines of the conference.
“Discussion was made on enhancing connectivity, situation in West Asia and our strategic partnership,” Jaishankar posted on X on Saturday. He held “broad-ranging talks” with his Norwegian counterpart Espen Barth Eide and talked about the imperative of improved multilateralism and a more equitable world order. Jaishankar said it was a “delight” to meet his Portuguese counterpart Joao Gomes Cravinho in Munich. “Shared views on recent global developments,” he posted on social media platform ‘X’.
Jaishankar held “in-depth discussions” with his Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski on the Russia-Ukraine conflict. “Also exchanged views on our bilateral cooperation in various fields,” he posted on X. The Foreign Minister also met his Belgian counterpart Hadja Lahbib. He also held discussions with Friedrich Merz, leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party in Germany. Jaishankar said, “His strong support for India-Germany and India-EU relations is visible.
