State Bank of India is the largest bank in the country. Lakhs of people will benefit from the initiative to deliver five essential services to customers’ homes.
Banks in India are working hard to provide banking facilities to the customers at their doorstep. Now the country’s largest bank, State Bank of India (SBI) has taken a big step to provide banking facilities at the doorstep of its customers.
The Bank has now provided its Customer Service Center (CSP) agents with lightweight equipment that can be easily lifted from one place to another. With the help of these devices, agents will be able to provide facilities like withdrawal, deposit and mini statement to any customer at his home. This step of the bank brings ‘Kiosk Banking’ directly to the doorstep of customers.
SBI Chairman Dinesh Khara said the initiative aims to strengthen financial inclusion and provide essential banking services to the common people. This initiative is part of increasing accessibility and convenience in availing bank services. Khara said that this new initiative of the bank will greatly facilitate the Customer Service Center (CSP) agents in providing banking services at the customer’s doorstep. Besides, sick, elderly and disabled people will also be able to avail banking services.
These five services will be available initially.
The SBI chairman said that under the new initiative, initially five core banking services – withdrawing money, depositing money, transferring money, checking balance and giving mini statement – will be provided. These services account for more than 75 per cent of the total transactions at the Bank’s customer service centres. He said the bank also plans to launch enrollment, account opening and card-based services under social security schemes later.
