India is all set to virtually host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. What would India want in the SCO summit?

The SCO summit is taking place at a time when no one can deny India’s growing interference in international diplomacy. The proximity of President Biden and PM Modi during the US tour and then the discussion about India being a power player in the American magazine Foreign Policy, both point towards India being a new big player in the field of diplomacy. Obviously, India would like to take advantage of this summit in two ways. Firstly, he can see this summit as a diplomatic preparation for the G20 Leaders Summit. These countries can get membership

According to sources, a meeting of SCO foreign ministers was held in Goa on May 4-5. The decisions that were taken in this meeting will be placed in the summit for approval. Along with this, a decision is also possible on the inclusion of Iran as a new member of the organization. Presently India has 8 full time members of SCO. These include India, China, Pakistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
