Second group of Indian military personnel leaves Maldives: President Muizzu

The second group of Indian military personnel operating helicopters under bilateral agreement with India has left from Maldives on April 9. President Mohammad Muizzu made this announcement.
Muizzu gave this information on Friday during a campaign event for the ruling party candidates ahead of the parliamentary elections to be held later this month. “The first team has left,” local media quoted Muizzu as saying. On April 9, soldiers were also removed from the other platform.
Edition.news portal’ quoted Muijju as saying in its news, “There is only one platform left. As both the countries have already signed, they (rest of the Indian military personnel) will also be withdrawn before May 10. They will go away.”
Neither the Maldives Defense Ministry nor India has commented on the withdrawal of Indian military personnel from the country. According to the Maldivian government, 88 Indian soldiers were deployed in the Maldives to operate one helicopter and one Dornier aircraft. The first group of Indian troops left Maldives on 11 March.
