Syria’s government agency ‘SANA’, quoting a police officer on the condition of anonymity, said that the extremist groups that are still active in the area may be behind this incident.
At least seven children were killed in a roadside bomb in southwestern Syria on Saturday. Government media and a war monitoring institute gave this information. So far in 2024, around 100 people have lost their lives in more than 12 similar incidents in the same region.
However, at present it is not clear which terrorist organization had planted the bomb in the northern rural area of Daraa province. The province lies between the Golan Heights occupied by Jordan and Israel. Russia-backed Syrian government forces and their allies captured the city and province of Daraa in 2018.
Syria’s government agency ‘SANA’, quoting a police officer on the condition of anonymity, said that the extremist groups that are still active in the area may be behind this incident.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based war monitor, alleged that a pro-government militia had planted the bomb as part of an assassination plot, without giving further details. It said at least eight children had died in the blast. ‘Sana’ reported in the news that two others were injured in the blast.
