Several drones targeting Moscow shot down: governor

moscow Moscow Governor Andrey Vorobyov on Tuesday claimed that several drones that targeted the Russian capital have been shot down. “This morning residents of some districts of the Moscow region could hear the sound of explosions,” Vorobyov was quoted as saying by state news agency TASS news agency. Several drones were shot down on the way to Moscow. The governor asked local residents to remain calm and said that all emergency service units were in operation and further information would follow.
Vorobyov’s comments came shortly after Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported that several buildings in the Russian capital had suffered minor damage as a result of a drone strike in the morning.
Sobyanin said there were no immediate reports of serious injuries, emergency services were at the scene and an investigation into the attack was underway, Xinhua news agency reported.
Tuesday’s developments come after an alleged drone attack on the Kremlin earlier this month.
Blaming Ukraine, the Kremlin called the May 3 attack a planned terrorist act and an attempt to assassinate the Russian president.
However, Ukraine has rejected this allegation.
