Share market moves flat, closes with slight rise

Stock Market Closing Bell: Market sentiments got hit due to Reserve Bank not giving relief in interest rates in the domestic stock market. Therefore, there was sluggishness in the stock market throughout the day. However, after the announcement of the decisions of the Monetary Committee of Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das, there was a boom in the banking sector. On the other hand, HDFC stock saw a rise due to better results of the fourth quarter. However, a slight rise was seen in Sensex-Nifty in the last hour. Till the closing bell, Sensex closed at 74,248.22, up 0.03 percent or 20.59 points. Whereas, Nifty closed at 22,525.50 with a slight gain of only 10 points. Today shares of 3942 companies were traded in the market. Out of these, a decline was seen in the stocks of 1423 companies. Whereas, stocks of 2409 companies rose. There was no change in the share prices of 110 companies.
How was the market on Sensex-Nifty?
Today, red mark was seen in the stocks of 17 companies on BSE’s 30-share Sensex. Whereas, a rise was seen in the stocks of 13 companies. On the other hand, mixed trading was seen on Nifty. The highest rise was seen in the bank index till the market closed. Whereas, the FMCG sector also saw growth. However, the IT sector appeared to be down by about 185 points. Oil & Gas, Health Care and Auto closed with slight decline. On Nifty, stocks of Kotak Mahindra, SBI Life, HDFC Bank, ITC, HDFC Life and Bajaj Finserv were among the top gainers. Whereas, stocks of Grasim, BPCL, Bajaj Finance, UltraTech Cement, L&T and Bajaj Auto joined the category of top losers.

Market participants appeared cautious in the market this morning ahead of the monetary review of the Reserve Bank of India. Meanwhile, the 30-share BSE Sensex fell 196.49 points or 0.25 per cent to 74,031.14. Whereas, NSE Nifty was also seen slipping 72.85 points or 0.32 percent and trading at 22,441.80 points. Global oil standard Brent crude futures were trading at US $ 90.97 per barrel with a gain of 0.35 percent. Slowdown was also seen in other markets of Asia.
