Vistara Airlines Crisis Vistara flights getting canceled continuously, 30 thousand passengers affected

Tata group airline Vistara’s flights are continuously getting cancelled. The displeasure of the pilots is being said to be the main reason behind the cancellation of flights. The pilot is unhappy with the new salary structure and has gone on sick leave. For this reason, Vistara flights are being canceled for many days. The process of flight cancellation continues. About 20 flights have been canceled as the problem persists. Till now a total of 30 thousand passengers have been affected by this.

Earlier on Wednesday also, 26 Vistara flights were canceled due to the hostile attitude of the pilots. According to the information, around 200 domestic and international flights of Vistara have been canceled in the last one week. Due to this, 30 thousand passengers have to face problems. At the same time, no information has been revealed regarding when this problem can end.

However, the airline’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Vinod Kannan had apologized to the angry pilots a day earlier and promised to resolve their problem. But this problem has not been solved yet. The standoff continued on Thursday and the airline canceled around 20 flights, sources said. Due to this, passenger fares have increased on some air routes. Vistara is scheduled to operate more than 300 flights daily under the summer schedule, but in the current circumstances it has decided to temporarily reduce operations. Pilots associated with the airline are angry over the salary revision and new deployment schedule and have abstained from flight operations. Meanwhile, aviation regulator DGCA has asked Vistara airline to submit daily reports on flight cancellations and delays.

Pilot union expressed concern about work culture in airlines

Two pilots’ organizations on Thursday said the problems raised by Vistara pilots are not an airline company issue but a systemic issue across all aviation units of the Tata group. The Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPI) and the Indian Pilots Guild (IPG) in a letter to Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran urged the group to engage in a meaningful dialogue with the pilot community. Tata Group has four airlines – Air India, Air India Express, AIX Connect (formerly AirAsia India), and Vistara. The IPG represents Air India pilots operating the airline’s widebody fleet while the ICPA is a union for pilots operating single-aisle aircraft.

The letter said, “Vistara pilots are demanding 70 hours of fixed time compensation, better working conditions and stable duty arrangements.” “We believe that their demands are not only fair but also reflect the wider challenges within the Tata group of airlines.” According to the pilots union, the concerns raised by Vistara pilots are not an individual airline issue but Tata. There is a systemic issue related to all the airlines of the group. In the letter, the employee organizations have asked the Tata Group leadership to engage in meaningful dialogue with the pilot community and take proactive steps to address their legitimate grievances.
