Stock Market Closing Bell: After reaching record high on Monday, Indian shares fell in pre-opening today amid weak signals from the global market. After this, there was gloom in the market throughout the day. However, a lot of action was seen in the midcap market. In the midcap segment, shares of Tata Investment, GTL, Chola Finance, Aban Offshore, Shri Ram Finance were seen trading in the green. Till the closing bell, Sensex fell 0.15 percent or 110.64 points and closed at 73,903.91. At the same time, Nifty closed at 22,464.30 with a gain of just 2.30 points. Today, out of 3924 companies, 2823 companies saw gains in the market. Whereas, stocks of 993 companies were in loss. At the same time, no change was seen in the stocks of 108 companies.

On BSE’s 30-share Sensex, stocks of 15 companies were seen trading with gains. Whereas, shares of 15 companies closed trading in loss. A decline was seen in Bank, Financial Sector, Pharma, IT and Health Care on Nifty. Whereas, the auto was seen running fast. At the same time, FMCG sector was also trading with a gain of 214 points. Whereas, an increase of 130 points was seen in metal. Stocks of Tata Consumer, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Auto, BPCL, Adani Ports and Nestle India were among the top gainers on Nifty. Whereas, shares of Hero Moto Corp, Kotak Mahindra, HCL Tech, ICICI and SBI Life were among the top losers.

The market rally that had been going on for three days came to a halt due to the withdrawal of foreign funds in the morning. Even before 10 am, BSE’s 30-share index Sensex had fallen 222.02 points to 73,792.53 points. Whereas, NSE Nifty slipped 47.65 points to reach 22,414.35 points. The indices faced volatility after initial deals and were trading with marginal gains. In Asian markets, South Korea’s Kospi was in loss, while China’s Shanghai Composite, Japan’s Nikkei 225 and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng were in profit.
