As his term comes to an end, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has once again offered talks with India to resolve all serious and pending issues and said that “war is not an option” for both the countries. ‘ Because both countries are fighting poverty and unemployment.

Shehbaz Sharif’s comments came amid Islamabad’s continued support to cross-border terrorism and ongoing strain in ties between India and Pakistan over a number of issues, including Kashmir. Also, this comment has come at a time when the five-year term of the Parliament is being completed on August 12 and his coalition government is preparing to go to the polls. But the question arises whether the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the members of his cabinet are completely clear about Pakistan’s policy towards India? Hina Rabbani Khar made the remarks while addressing the Pakistan Governance Forum 2023 in Islamabad. During her address when she was describing Pakistan’s relations with all its neighbours, she referred to India as the “Darling of the West”. Furthermore, Khar also accused India of being “closer to certain countries in the region”. Hina Rabbani Khar said that “India has decided to be the darling of the West, but at the same time, has decided to be very aggressive within the region. Hina Rabbani Khar said that India stands out as a country that is very open towards some countries, but not close to all in the region. If seen, this statement of Hina Rabbani Khar gives meaning to the proverb ‘Grapes are sour’. No other country in the world respects Pakistan, let alone the West, while India has come into the role of a leader in the world today. Obviously this thing will not be digested by Pakistan, so it is using words like darling.

However, Hina Rabbani Khar’s statement also shows that there are differences of opinion within the Pakistan government regarding the policy towards India. There are also reports that Hina has made such comments about India only after getting angry with the offer of talks to India.
