Shehbaz Sharif, in an interview to Geo News channel, said that men, women, some army personnel and their families were involved in the May 9 incident which has been declared a ‘black day’ by the powerful army. “Those involved in the May 9 incident wanted to overthrow the military leadership,” he said.
‘Imran was the mastermind of the May 9 violence’
The Prime Minister said that the conspirators of the said incident wanted ‘anarchy’ and ‘war’ in the country. Geo News quoted Sharif as saying PTI chairman Khan was the mastermind of the May 9 incident. Following the violent protests, law enforcement agencies arrested around 10,000 PTI workers from all over Pakistan, out of which around 4,000 were arrested in Punjab province alone.
150 cases against Imran
According to Khan, around 16 PTI workers were killed in the violence while the police put the death toll at 10. Khan is facing multiple cases over the attack on military installations. He is currently facing around 150 cases of terrorism, murder and blasphemy. According to reports, he has been kept under house arrest at his private residence in Zaman Park, Lahore.
