Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said in a Facebook post, ‘This is part of multicultural Singapore, where the whole community is involved in each other’s cultural events.’ Wong was accompanied by Communications and Information Minister Josephine Teo, Transport Minister S. Easwaran and Bukit Batok MP Murali Pillai also attended the ceremony. Twelve expert sculptors and seven metal and wood craftsmen from India were involved in the restoration of the temple at a cost of $3.5 million.
These artisans worked on the frescoes of the sanctum, domes and ceilings, while maintaining the original color and structure of the temple. Indian-origin devotee Sumati Nadesan in Singapore told The Straits Times that we have unwavering faith and belief in the temple. After the consecration ceremony, there will now be Mandalabhishegam. A lot of enthusiasm is being seen among the local Indians regarding this temple.
