New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News): SpiceJet on Saturday also joined the ‘Operation Ajay’ being run by the Central Government for the return home of Indians stranded in Israel. The airline has launched its inaugural special flight to Tel Aviv using its Airbus A340 aircraft.

Flight SG 9995 took off from Amritsar for Tel Aviv on Saturday evening, an airline spokesperson said. The return journey from Tel Aviv is scheduled at 11 pm (local time) and will reach Delhi the next morning, the spokesperson said.

SpiceJet has been a steadfast contributor to the government’s evacuation and repatriation efforts, the spokesperson said, having earlier assisted in ‘Operation Ganga’ by evacuating over 1,600 students through special flights to Budapest, Kosice and Suceava.

In ‘Operation Kaveri’, SpiceJet helped bring back Indian nationals stranded in Sudan and flew them from Jeddah to Kochi. During the Covid pandemic, the airline played a vital role in repatriating both Indian citizens and foreign residents, the spokesperson said.
