South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized SGCCI Business Global Connect Mission 84 on Saturday. An interactive session on ‘Business Opportunities between India and Tanzania’ was held on October 14, 2023 at 10:00 am at Samhati, Sarsana, Surat. In which representatives including Balozi Anisa Mbega, High Commissioner of African country Tanzania, Gilad Terry, Director General of Tanzania Investment Centre, Rekha Sharma, Founder of Marketing Assistance and Research Support and representatives including Latifa, Halima, Panduka, Hassan, Barry and Ravi Mittal were present.

Chamber of Commerce President Ramesh Vaghasia presented the Mission 84 project to the Tanzanian delegation and requested them to join it. He gave detailed information about the SGCCI Global Connect Mission 84 project and explained the need and importance of this project to strengthen the Indian economy. He also gave them detailed information about the online international platform to be created under the Mission 84 project to increase exports from entire India including Gujarat region under this project.

The Chamber President also informed the Tanzanian representatives about the meetings being held with the Consul Generals of various countries. The Chamber President advised the industrialists of Surat present in the session to become productive by understanding the needs of not only India but the world. He said that industrialists across India including Surat will now have to produce to meet the world demand.

Tanzanian High Commissioner Balozi Anisa Mbega said that a few days ago, Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in India. This visit sent a strong message to the entire world regarding bilateral trade between India and Tanzania. Our country is ready to move forward with India in terms of international trade and investment and is moving in that direction.

He said Tanzania has vast investment opportunities in various industries such as mining and metals, agriculture, agro-processing, health care, auto mobile, engineering and servicing, textiles, building materials, tourism and IT sector. Especially Zanzibar is a beautiful place and famous wedding venue in Tanzania. There is also a lot of potential for the film industry here, hence he appealed to the businessmen of Surat to invest in Tanzania.

Tanzanian High Commissioner Balozi Anisa Mbega gladly accepted the request of the Chamber President to join the Mission 84 of the Chamber of Commerce and said that by joining the Mission 84, we will make every possible effort so that the entrepreneurs of both the countries can benefit. Can trade and sell each other’s products. He invited a delegation of industrialists from Surat led by the Chamber of Commerce to visit Tanzania.

Gilad Terry, Director General of the Tanzania Investment Centre, gave a detailed presentation on the areas where investment can be made in Tanzania. He said, there are many good opportunities in the pharmaceutical sector. To make it easier for Indian entrepreneurs to invest and do business in Tanzania, their government is providing facilities through One Stop Facilitation Centre. Indian entrepreneurs are also given incentives for business.

During the session, traders from Surat had a one-to-one meeting with the Tanzanian delegation and received information about trade and exports. Chamber of Commerce Vice President Vijay Mewawala thanked all the participants in the interactive session. Former president of the chamber Rohit Mehta addressed on this occasion. Chamber’s Honorary Minister Nikhil Madrasi, Honorary Treasurer Kiran Thummar and Mission 84 Convenor Sanjay Punjabi and Project Head Paresh Bhatt and businessmen from Surat were present at the convention.
