Stock Market: Sensex-Nifty opened strongly in early trade in the global market

Mumbai : Due to strength in global markets and buying in IT stocks, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) major sensitive index Sensex opened 325.59 points higher at 60,586.77 in early trade on Monday. Along with this, the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was up 93.05 points at 18,049.65. Let us inform that IT company Wipro had declared the December quarter results after the end of business on Friday.

Many stocks including SBI registered gains

According to the report of news agency Bhasha, Wipro, HCL Technologies, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, UltraTech Cement, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Tech Mahindra and SBI were among the major gainers in the Sensex. Whereas, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Steel, NTPC, Maruti and Tata Motors declined. In other Asian markets, there was an increase in Seoul, Shanghai and Hong Kong, while Tokyo saw a decline. US markets closed in the green mark on Friday. International oil benchmark Brent crude fell 0.54 per cent to $84.82 per barrel.

Sensex closed with gains on Friday

Let us tell you that on Friday the Sensex closed at 60,261.18 with a gain of 303.15 points or 0.51 per cent. With this, the Nifty closed at 17,956.60, up 98.40 points or 0.55 per cent. According to provisional data of the stock market, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 2,422.39 crore on Friday.

Rupee up 9 paise against dollar

The rupee appreciated by 9 paise to 81.29 against the US dollar in early trade on Monday amid weakness in the dollar and strength in domestic equity markets. Forex traders said persistent outflow of foreign funds weighed on investor sentiment, which capped the rupee’s gains. The rupee opened at 81.29 against the dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market, showing a rise of 9 paise over its previous closing price. The rupee had declined by eight paise to close at 81.38 against the US dollar on Friday.
