Stock Market Opening: The historic boom in the Indian stock market continues. Today the market has made a new record. Nifty opened at 20806 with a historical gain of 119.90 points or 0.58 percent. Whereas, BSE Sensex opened at the level of 69168 with a gain of 303.41 points or 0.44 percent. Domestic markets remained bullish for the sixth consecutive trading session on Tuesday amid continuous capital inflows from foreign institutional investors and softening of crude oil prices. Forex traders said investors are expecting the Reserve Bank of India (rbi) will maintain status quo on interest rates in the monetary policy decision to be announced this week. BSE’s 30-share Sensex jumped 169.94 points in early trade to reach a new peak of 69,035.06. Nifty also rose 52.60 points to reach a new all-time high of 20,739.40. Among Sensex companies, Adani Enterprises and Adani Ports maintained their lead and traded with gains of 4.40 percent and 4.37 percent respectively. BPCL, Axis Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra and SBI were other major gainers. Whereas shares of HCL Tech, Infosys and Bajaj Auto remained in loss. In other Asian markets, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng and Japan’s Nikkei remained in loss. American markets closed with mixed sentiment on Monday. Global oil benchmark Brent crude was trading 0.01 percent lower at $78.02 per barrel. According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs)FII) bought shares worth Rs 2,073.21 crore on Monday.
Rupee falls by three paise at 83.41 per dollar
The rupee fell by three paise to hit an all-time low of 83.41 against the US dollar in early trade on Tuesday. Foreign exchange traders said that investors are waiting for the results of the monetary policy of the Reserve Bank of India. The Monetary Policy Committee of the central bank will begin its bi-monthly review meeting on Wednesday. The decision will be announced on Friday. In the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 83.41 against the dollar, which is a decline of three paise from the previous closing price. The rupee had closed at 83.38 against the American currency on Monday. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which reflects the position of the US dollar against six major currencies of the world, declined by 0.09 percent to 103.62. Global oil benchmark Brent crude was trading 0.05 per cent lower at $77.99 per barrel. According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs)FII) bought shares worth Rs 2,073.21 crore on Monday.
