Ankara. Earthquake tremors were felt in Turkey on Monday. The country’s Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu has said that three people were killed and 213 injured in a 6.4-magnitude earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria yesterday. Search and rescue operations are underway in three buildings that were destroyed in the quake. A total of five people are feared trapped in these buildings. The latest earthquake shook parts of Turkey and Syria that were devastated by a massive earthquake two weeks ago. About 45,000 people were killed in that earthquake.
Officials said several buildings collapsed and people living in them were trapped. Several people were injured in both countries, but there was no immediate information about the dead. The epicenter of Monday’s quake was the city of Denfe in Turkey’s Hatay province, one of the worst-hit areas by the 7.8-magnitude earthquake on February 6.
