Former US Ambassador to Sweden Gregory J. Newell and Dr. Sam Nejade, Director, International Commercial Development Corporation of America, visited the South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry and held a meeting with the office bearers of the Chamber.
In a discussion with the Chamber President, Gregory Newell recalled his visit to India in 1983. As U.S. Assistant Secretary of State, he led official U.S. delegations to more than 60 countries to advance international strategic, political, commercial, and humanitarian interests. As a senior US government official, he played a key role in the formulation and implementation of US multilateral foreign policy in international organizations. He is responsible for developing and implementing business expansion strategies across industries and international geographies, working with a team of experienced international business professionals spanning the globe from Hong Kong, New York to Paris.
Former US Ambassador to Sweden Gregory J. Newell said, India is a huge market in the retail sector. If the industrialists and businessmen of Surat and American businessmen are widely informed about the goods that India and America can offer each other, then the bilateral trade relations between the two countries can be strengthened through Mission 84. Since joint efforts can be made, he said that 84 of the Mission Chamber of Commerce assured cooperation in the project.
The Chamber President gave him detailed information about the various activities undertaken by the Chamber of Commerce and its infrastructure in the last 84 years with the aim of developing trade and industry of South Gujarat. Also, he requested the industrialists and traders of Surat to support the Mission 84 project, which aims to connect them with each other so that they can trade directly with American traders.
Apart from this, he invited a delegation of industrialists and businessmen from Surat for a business meet in America under the aegis of the Chamber of Commerce. When the Chamber President invited him to lead a business delegation from America to visit the Chamber of Commerce and various industries in Surat, he gladly accepted.
