Adani Hazira Port Limited recently celebrated “International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction” on 13 October. Recognizing the importance of disaster risk reduction, AHPL conducted a mock drill on the same day, simulating a scenario involving release of toxic gases at the port. The objective of the exercise was to enhance the preparedness of all workers, co-workers and contract laborers to face potential disasters, thereby reducing the overall risk.

Given that the release of toxic gases is the most serious threat to the port, the mock drill also served as an opportunity to identify any gaps in the emergency response protocols. CEO Neeraj Bansal said in his message that “We are committed to maintaining a safe, healthy and environmentally friendly workplace for our employees, associates and contract workers and providing safe operations that benefit everyone.” The port incorporates best global safety practices in our daily operations to create a safe place to work. Anand Marathe, COO, AHPL, monitored the drill as the chief observer. HSEF chief Aditya Abhishek Pandey during the exercise Worked as a supervisor. Fire Safety and Occupational Health Center team, security team and other concerned departments actively participated in the drill. Following its conclusion, the COO, Chief of HSEF and Chief of LT Operations provided a comprehensive briefing on the positive aspects of the drill and areas for improvement.
