In the age of social media, rumors often spread very fast due to which people have to face a lot of trouble. Something similar happened with the traders of Surat textile market. Traders in Surat textile market got worried due to a rumor regarding Dussehra holiday.
The thing is that on the occasion of Dussehra festival on October 24, 2023, a circular of half-day holiday in the afternoon was circulated by the Federation of Textile Traders Association (FOSTA) of Surat Textile Market. According to this circular, work will continue in all the textile markets of Surat till 3 pm and after that the market will remain closed due to Dussehra festival. But a prankster tampered with the FOSTA circular and circulated a full-day holiday circular, leaving textile market traders in a dilemma.
In one circular, it was said that shops should be kept open till 3 pm, while in another forwarded message, traders were told to keep the market closed for the whole day. In this regard, FOSTA officials were questioned by the traders as to what actually needs to be done on the day of Dussehra. Should I open a shop or not? FOSTA was bombarded with questions in this regard. Ultimately FOSTA had to clarify this entire matter.
FOSTA General Secretary Dinesh Kataria said that some mischievous element has tampered with FOSTA’s circular with the intention of misleading traders and has made the circular message viral on social media. FOSTA has lodged a complaint in the cyber cell in this matter. Legal action will be taken against the culprits. We appeal to traders not to pay heed to any false rumours. On the day of Dussehra, shops in the textile market will remain open till 3 pm.
FOSTA President Kailash Hakim has made a written complaint to Surat City Police Commissioner Ajaykumar Tomar and Salabatpura PI, Cyber Cell PI. In which it is said that the letter of Dussehra holiday was issued by our organization FOSTA with serial number 134-10-2023. By tampering with that letter, someone has hurt the sentiments and trust of 70,000 textile traders of Surat and lakhs of textile traders of the country associated with FOSTA. FOSTA strongly condemns it. Therefore, FOSTA has asked the police department to take immediate action against those who tamper with the authorized letter and to take strict action against those who play with the sentiments of textile traders.
