Famous singer Taylor Swift has become a victim of deepfake, many of her objectionable pictures have been made public on social media. The case has raised concerns about the growing misuse of artificial intelligence (AI).
Objectionable fake pictures of singer Swift surfaced on the social media platform ‘X’ this week. Using AI to superimpose another person’s image on a photo or video and present it in such a way that it appears real is called deepfake.
After these photos became public, Swift’s fans united and launched a campaign on ‘X’ in support of the singer. Some said they have complained about social media accounts that are sharing objectionable pictures.
Reality Defenders, a deepfake detection group, said it found some pornographic content featuring Swift exclusively on ‘X’. Some photos have also been found on Facebook and other social media platforms.
Mason Allen, head of development for Reality Defenders, said, “Some of the photos were removed, but by then they had reached millions of users.” When contacted by X to ask about Swift’s fake photos, So he told ‘The Associated Press’ that the company strictly prohibits sharing of objectionable photos on its platform without consent.
‘X’ said, “Our team is working to remove all the images as well as taking action against the accounts from which the images were posted.” Meanwhile, Meta said in a statement that it strongly condemns the content appearing on various Internet services and has worked to remove it. An attempt was made to contact Swift in this regard but he could not be contacted.
