islamabad (Uttam Hindu News): Armed terrorists entered the training base of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) in Mianwali. Pakistani soldiers foiled the attack and killed 9 terrorists. In an update, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that the search and evacuation operation at the PAF training airbase Mianwali has ended, Dawn News reported. All nine terrorists have been sent to hell.
The operation was launched to eliminate any potential threat in the surrounding area following the cowardly and failed terrorist attack on the base on Saturday morning. ISPR further said that there was no damage to any functional operational assets of the PAF, while only some damage was caused to three non-operational aircraft already phased out during the attack.
In an earlier statement, ISPR had said that three aircraft already grounded during the attack had also suffered some damage and launched an extensive joint evacuation and search operation, Dawn News quoted its media wing as saying. Meanwhile, in a statement to the media, Tehreek-e-Jihad Pakistan (TJP), a newly emerged terrorist group affiliated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility for the attack.
Pakistan has seen an increase in terrorist attacks in recent months, especially in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, Dawn News reports. Last month, the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) said the number of terrorist attacks in August was the highest number of monthly attacks in almost nine years. PICSS said there were 99 attacks across the country, the highest number in a month since November 2014.
