Islamabad, 25 December (HIST). The passing year is rapidly moving towards the new year giving deep wounds to Pakistan. Terrorists continued carrying out bloodshed throughout the year. In most of the suicide attacks, security forces were the target. This conclusion is from Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS).
Pakistan’s leading newspaper Dawn has analyzed terrorist incidents in a report released quoting PICSS data. According to Dawn there is a worrying increase in suicide attacks in 2023. 329 people lost their lives and 582 were injured in 29 suicide attacks. The number of security forces officers and soldiers among the dead is 48 percent.
According to the report, Pakistan has been facing terrorism for almost a decade. In 2013, 683 people lost their lives in 47 suicide bombings. This year, most of the bloodshed took place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. 23 bomb explosions took place. Of these, 254 people were killed and 512 were injured.
85 people were killed and 206 injured in 13 suicide attacks in FATA. Balochistan faced five attacks. 67 people were killed in these. A suicide attack took place in Sindh. Eight people lost their lives in this attack. PICSS says that terrorists carried out most of the attacks targeting security forces. Last year, 101 soldiers lost their lives in 15 attacks by terrorists.
