United Nations. The number of civilian casualties due to Russia’s recent fierce missile and drone attacks in Ukraine has increased rapidly in December and during this period, more than 100 people have died and about 500 people have been injured in these attacks. This information was given in a new report of the United Nations on Tuesday. The Ukraine-based UN human rights monitoring mission said the number of civilian casualties increased by 26.5 percent last month.

He told that this number was 468 in November which increased to 592 in December. The organization said that verification of some reports is still pending, so this number is likely to increase further. “The number of civilian casualties had been declining steadily throughout 2023, but the number increased as attacks escalated in late December and early January,” said Daniel Bell, head of the UN monitoring mission.

The UN mission said it was confirming reports that Russian missile and drone strikes in Ukraine between December 29 and early January have killed 86 civilians and injured 416 others. Adam Vosornu, director of operations for the UN humanitarian office, told the UN Security Council last Wednesday that the number of civilians killed since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022 is more than 10,200, including 575 children. The number of people involved and injured exceeds 19,300.
