Mumbai: BSE and Sensex ended with gains for the third day in a row today as most groups, including healthcare, energy and realty, remained firm domestically amid a mixed trend globally. BSE’s 30-share Sensex gained 152.12 points to 65780.26 points and National Stock Exchange’s (NSE) Nifty gained 46.10 points to 19574.90 points. There was more emphasis on buying in small and medium companies as compared to large companies, due to which the BSE Midcap gained 1.09 percent to 32018.77 points and Smallcap gained 0.61 percent to 37964.55 points.
A total of 3817 companies traded on the BSE, out of which 2085 advanced and 1599 declined, while 133 remained unchanged. Most of the groups on the BSE gained momentum, including Healthcare (1.29 per cent), Energy (1.01 per cent) and Realty (1.08 per cent). Global trend was mixed. Britain’s FTSE was up 0.29 percent and Japan’s Nikkei was up 0.30 percent, while Hong Kong’s Hangseng was down 2.06 percent, China’s Shanghai Composite 0.71 percent and Germany’s DAX 0.06 percent.
