United Nations. UN General Assembly President Saba Korosi has described India as “one of the leading countries of the Global South”, saying that India and the United Nations have a lot in common in their strategic thinking about the need to change the world. Korosi will arrive in India on Sunday on a three-day visit at the invitation of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. This is his first bilateral visit to any country since taking over as the President of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in September 2022. “I am traveling to India with high hopes,” Korosi told PTI.
He said, “I see a lot of similarity in the strategic thinking of India and the United Nations about what the world should look like, what kind of change the world needs, how we can change ourselves, how we can change this organization and How can we change our stand on global affairs? So, my main message to the partners would be – I am going there (India) to seek cooperation.” Korosi’s talks with Jaishankar are expected to focus on India’s participation in the UN body as well as on the issue of sustainable water use.
Describing India as “one of the leading countries of the Global South”, Korosi said that India is one of the largest economies in the world and is close to becoming the most populous country on the planet. He said, “India is well aware that the world is changing very fast. India is facing many such difficulties, which we are also facing in different forms, all over the world. India is looking for its own solution and in many cases not only for itself but also for many other countries.
