Share Market Long Weekend: There is a holiday in the Indian stock market today due to Shivratri. For this, a circular has been issued by Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange. In this, today’s holiday has been declared. After this, March 9 is Saturday and March 10 is Sunday. This means that now the market will open on Monday after three straight days of holiday. During this period, along with equity, the markets of equity derivatives, interest rate derivatives and currency derivatives will also remain closed. Today lending and borrowing of securities will not be possible in the market. Commodity derivatives segment will remain closed for morning trading. Whereas, it will be open for evening session. However, please note that there will be a holiday in banks during this period.

There are three log wick ends in the month
There are three big weekends in the stock market this month. One of these is currently underway. Secondly, there will be a holiday in the stock market on 25th March due to Holi holiday. 25th March is Monday. In such a situation, after the last trading day of March 22, the market will open on March 26. At the same time, the market will remain closed on the occasion of Good Friday on March 29. This means that there will be trading only for three days this week. There will be a holiday in the market again from 29th to 31st March.
The market made a record yesterday
The local market witnessed a rise on Thursday, the last trading day of the week. Due to this, both the benchmark indices, BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty reached new peaks. The market had reached new highs due to buying of shares of metal and daily use goods (FMCG) companies amid strong trend in global markets and capital inflow of foreign institutional investors. In volatile trading, the Sensex closed at a new record level of 74,119.39 points with a gain of 33.40 points or 0.05 percent. At one time during trading it had climbed 159.18 points. National Stock Exchange’s Nifty, based on fifty shares, also closed at a new record level of 22,493.55 points with a gain of 19.50 points or 0.09 percent. At one time during trading it had climbed up to 51.6 points. Vinod Nair, head of research, Geojit Financial Services, said that due to the strong trend in America and capital inflows of foreign institutional investors, the benchmark indices had once again reached new highs.
