washington (Best Hindu News): The White House on Monday said that India is a vibrant democracy and anyone who visits New Delhi can see and feel it for themselves. It is believed that through this statement, America has outright rejected all those criticisms, in which questions have been raised on India’s democracy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a state visit to the US later this month.
John Kirby, strategic communications coordinator for the National Security Council at the White House, told reporters at a press conference here, “India is a vibrant democracy. Anyone, you know, who goes to New Delhi can see this for themselves. And of course, I hope that the strength and condition of democratic institutions will be part of the discussion.
In response to a question, Kirby said, ‘Look, we never hesitate. And you can do the same with friends. You should do this with friends. You have never shied away from voicing any concerns we might have around the globe. But this (state) visit is really about building on what we have now and what we hope will be a deeper, stronger partnership and friendship.
Kirby said that India is a strong partner of the US on many levels. He said, ‘You saw that Defense Minister Lloyd Austin has now announced some additional defense cooperation that we are going to take forward with India. Of course, there is a lot of economic trade between our two countries. India is a member of the Pacific Quad and a key friend and partner of the US with regard to Indo-Pacific security.
Kirby said, ‘I could go on and on. There are many reasons why India certainly matters at many levels between our two countries, not just bilaterally, but multilaterally. And President Joe Biden is very much looking forward to Prime Minister Modi coming here, to talk about all those issues and to take forward and deepen that partnership and friendship.
