Paris : Thousands of people unhappy over France’s arms supplies to Ukraine took out the French capital Paris for the second major peace rally in two weeks. Rally organizers The Patriots party said protests were also held in dozens of other places across France. Demonstrators carried national flags and banners that read “For peace,” not World War III and “Let’s quit NATO.”
Eurosceptic firebrand leader and organizer of the rallies, Florian Philippot, said that peace talks were the only way to end the Ukrainian conflict. He warned that French arms supplies to Ukraine are only bringing everyone closer to World War III. Philpott said the fact that the EU had adopted 10 rounds of sanctions against Russia within a year showed that the sanctions were not working.
He criticized France and Europe for blindly following the United States even after apparently blowing up vital gas pipelines under the Baltic Sea. He also lashed out at NATO, saying that a military machine that should have been destroyed at the end of the Cold War is only good at starting conflicts. He said NATO would set up China to serve as its next enemy as Taiwan’s rhetoric continues to heat up.
