Kathmandu, 09 September (Hindustan Times). Today, thousands of people took to the streets in the capital Kathmandu to protest against the cow slaughter that took place in Dharan city a few days ago. On the call of Vishwa Hindu Parishad of Nepal, people have demanded strict action against those committing cow slaughter.
About two dozen religious organizations working in Nepal including VHP Nepal participated in this demonstration. Marched on foot from Maitighar Mandla of Kathmandu to New Baneshwar area where Parliament House is located. The protesters also demanded strict implementation of the cow slaughter law in Nepal and constitutional recognition of Nepal again as a Hindu nation.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s National Organization General Secretary Prahlad Regmi said that this rally was organized to create awareness about the all-round attack against Sanatan Dharma and culture in Nepal. He said that a few days ago, a video of cow slaughter and a mass feast was posted on social media, due to which the entire Hindu society of Nepal is agitated.
VHP Nepal General Secretary Jitendra Singh said that despite cow slaughter being legally banned in Nepal, it is being carried out openly and the Hindu community is not even allowed to protest against it, the anger in the society is increasing. In Dharan, the local administration had even imposed curfew to stop the protest by Hindus against cow slaughter.
