The stock market is closed on Tuesday i.e. 14th November on the occasion of Diwali Balipratipada. BSE NSE will remain closed on this day and there will be no trading. There will be no trading in the equity segment, equity derivatives segment and SLB segment. There will be no trading in the currency derivatives market on this day.
It is noteworthy that the first holiday of the stock market in November is on 14th November. This month, the stock market will remain closed on 27th November also on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti. After this, the stock market is going to remain closed on 25th December next month. However, after Diwali the stock market was open on Monday. According to the information, Balipratipada or Bali Padyami is celebrated on the fourth day of Diwali. On this day, Lord Vishnu’s victory over the demon king Bali is celebrated.
MCX will remain closed in the first half
In the commodity segment, trading on Multi Commodity Exchange is going to remain closed in the first half. The second half will start again at around 5 pm. Trading in the currency derivatives segment and interest rate derivatives segment will be suspended during the day.
Let us tell you that a day before this i.e. on Monday 13th November, there was a decline in the market. Local stock markets fell on Monday and BSE Sensex closed with a loss of more than 325 points. There was selling pressure in stocks of IT, consumer durables and financial companies amid cautious attitude of investors ahead of the release of inflation data. According to traders, apart from this, continuous capital withdrawal by foreign institutional investors and fall in the rupee exchange rate affected investor sentiment.
Giving up the gains made on the day of Diwali, the 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 64,933.87, down 325.58 points or 0.50 per cent. At one time during trading it had fallen to 406.09 points. National Stock Exchange’s Nifty also closed at 19,443.55 points with a decline of 82 points or 0.42 percent. Industrial production grew by 5.3 percent in September, compared to 10.3 percent in August. However, on an annual basis, industrial production has increased due to good performance of manufacturing and mining sectors. Among the Sensex companies, Bajaj Finance, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, ICICI Bank, Nestle, Tata Consultancy Services, HDFC Bank and Reliance Industries were the major losers. On the other hand, the profitable stocks include Mahindra & Mahindra, JSW Steel, NTPC, Power Grid and IndusInd Bank.
