Tornado kills 1, injures 12 in South-Central America

Houston: One person was killed and 12 others were injured when a tornado struck the south central US state of Oklahoma. Local media outlet KOCO reported Monday that multiple homes and a cemetery were damaged by tornadoes late Sunday night and early Monday in the western Oklahoma city. Coco said none of the injuries were serious. Videos on social media showed that in the overnight tornado and strong winds, roofs were ripped off, walls fell and an SUV flipped onto the hood of another car, according to the report.
The severe storm brought down several power lines, snapped power poles. Norman Public Schools officials said at least two elementary schools remained closed on Monday due to power outages. The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed on Monday that seven tornadoes spawned in Oklahoma, resulting in damage in some locations. Meteorologist Damon Lane said tornadoes are frequent in Oklahoma in February.
Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt tweeted Monday, “My thoughts are with those affected by last night’s severe weather, especially those in Cheyenne and my hometown of Norman.” It also affected parts of the neighboring states of Kansas and Texas.
