Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan once again raised the Kashmir issue in the United Nations General Assembly. His comments came during his address to world leaders at the 78th high-level session. Emphasizing the importance of resolving the Kashmir issue for long-term peace in the South Asia region, he said that both India and Pakistan should make efforts to resolve the issue as per the established norms of dialogue and cooperation.
Addressing the general debate on Tuesday, he said that another development that will pave the way for regional peace, stability and prosperity in South Asia will be the establishment of a just and lasting peace in Kashmir through dialogue and cooperation between India and Pakistan. .
Continuing his historic Kashmir rhetoric at the UNGA, the Turkish leader said Turkey will continue to support action in this direction. However, in his address he also praised India’s role in the UN Security Council and said that India’s leadership in the institution is a matter of great pride. He also supported the long-standing demand to expand the UNSC to include 15 more members.
