TVS Motor’s social arm plans to invest Rs 10 crore in water conservation

Srinivasan Services Trust, a social arm of India’s leading automobile company TVS Motor Company and auto parts manufacturer Sundaram-Clayton Limited, has invested over Rs 21 crore in the last six years towards water conservation efforts in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. The company has given this information on Thursday. The company said that Srinivasan Services Trust also plans to invest over Rs 10 crore over the next three years for water conservation initiatives.
In a statement, the trust said it had undertaken 350 projects, including desilting of tanks and irrigation channels, which increased water storage levels in villages in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. Through the participation of local communities and the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), the Trust has implemented programs including setting up of 19 check dams and 120 farm ponds in Tiruvannamalai, Tirupattur and Krishnagiri districts of Tamil Nadu. Swaran Singh, Chairman, Srinivasan Services Trust said, “Srinivasan Services Trust’s commitment to serving rural communities is driven by the vision of making rural India self-reliant and empowered. This additional investment in water conservation is one step closer to that vision.
