Peshawar. A wanted terrorist was killed while two Pakistani Army soldiers were also killed during an operation in Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday. This information was provided by officers. Security forces, following information about the presence of terrorists, launched an operation in Buner district of the province in which terrorist Salim alias Rabbani was killed, while two other terrorists were injured in the encounter.
According to the army’s media wing ‘Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Rabbani had a bounty of Rs 50 lakh on his head and was involved in several terrorist activities against security forces as well as extortion and targeted killings of innocent civilians. Two other terrorists were also injured in the encounter. Two Pakistan Army soldiers were also killed in the operation.
The army statement said that Pakistan’s security forces are committed to eliminating the menace of terrorism. Pakistan has seen a significant increase in terrorist incidents in recent months. More than 92 percent of deaths and 86 percent of attacks during the first quarter of 2024 occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and Balochistan.
