Two passenger planes collided head-on at Haneda Airport in Tokyo, Japan, over 400 passengers in danger, runway closed

Tokyo: Two passenger planes accidentally collided with each other at a major Tokyo airport on Saturday morning. However, there is no news of any casualty in the incident. According to Japanese media, a Bangkok (Thailand)-bound Thai Airways International flight collided with a Taipei (Taiwan)-bound EVA Airways flight at Haneda airport, prompting authorities to close the runway. However, there is no comment from both the airlines, the airport administration and the Transport Minister of Japan on the incident at present. The reason behind the incident is also not clear at the moment. According to the news published in the Japanese media, there is a report of damage to the wing of one aircraft in the collision. Several flights were delayed due to the incident.

Two planes came into contact on Saturday morning at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, temporarily closing one of its four runways. The incident took place on the taxiway around 11 am. The two planes involved were operated by Thai Airways and Taiwan’s EVA Airways, according to the ministry and the Tokyo Fire Department. An EVA Airlines passenger said, “Part of the wing of the Thai Airways plane was broken.”

There were about 500 passengers in both the planes.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, around 260 passengers and crew members were on board the Thai Airways plane, while around 200 were on board the EVA Airways plane. NHK reported that the affected 3000 meter runway A was reopened after 1 p.m., noting that some flights were delayed due to the incident.
