Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky welcomed several leaders of Western countries who arrived here on Saturday to mark the completion of two years of the Russia-Ukraine war. Leaders of Western countries have arrived in Ukraine at a time when the Ukrainian army is short of ammunition and weapons and foreign aid is hanging in the balance.
Apart from European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Belgian Prime Minister Alexandre De Croo and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited Kiev. All these leaders came here together by rail route.
Zelensky posted a video with the leaders from Hostomel airfield. The Western leader arrived shortly after a Russian drone strike on a residential building in the southern city of Odessa killed at least one person.
Before these leaders reached Ukraine, a residential building in Odessa city was damaged in a Russian drone attack on Friday evening. Local governor Oleh Kipar said one man was killed and three women were injured in the attack.
Western leaders are traveling to Kiev to show solidarity with Ukraine, which is facing a two-year war. Upon arriving in Kiev, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on ‘X’, “We stand with Ukraine more strongly than ever.” We are with Kiev economically, militarily, morally as long as the war continues.
