Urine scandal not stopping in flight, now passenger did shameful act with fellow passenger, accused arrested

A drunk passenger urinated on a fellow passenger on American Airlines. The incident took place on an American Airlines flight from New York to Delhi. An Indian student allegedly urinated on his co-passenger, following which the Delhi Police arrested him soon after his flight landed at the Indira Gandhi Airport after receiving a complaint in the matter. According to information, this incident happened in the flight of American Airline AA292.

A senior Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) official said the airline has submitted a report to the DGCA about the incident. It appears that the airline has handled the situation in a professional manner and has taken all appropriate steps. The incident took place in flight number AA292, which took off from New York at 9.16 pm on Friday and landed at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport here at 9.50 pm on Saturday.

American Airlines said in a statement on Sunday that due to the misbehavior of a passenger, law enforcement officials were contacted upon arrival in Delhi. However, he did not give specific details about the incident. Delhi airport Deputy Commissioner of Police Devesh Kumar Mahla on Sunday said that a complaint has been received from American Airlines against a student studying in the US for urinating on a co-passenger. “We are taking necessary legal action,” he said.

A source at the airport said, “The accused is a student of an American university. He was in an inebriated state and urinated on his clothes in his sleep, as a result of which the passenger sitting next to him also got wet. The passenger then complained to the crew.” He said that the victim passenger did not want to report the matter to the police as the accused student had apologized and complaining could jeopardize his career. However, the airline took a serious note of it and reported the matter to the Air Traffic Control (ATC) at IGI Airport. The crew members after coming to know about the incident informed the pilot, who in turn informed the matter to ATC. The ATC informed the Central Industrial Security Force, which handed over the accused passenger to the Delhi Police. Another airport source told PTI, “The airline’s own security team along with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) swung into action after learning about the incident.” The accused was immediately taken into custody after alighting from the aircraft. Police is recording the statements of the people concerned.

American Airlines said in a statement that flight 292’s arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport from John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) resulted in the arrival of local law enforcement officials due to the misbehavior of a passenger. The airline said, “The flight landed safely at 9.50 pm.” We are grateful to our crew members who are dedicated to the safety and care of our customers and handled the situation in a completely professional manner. So he can be banned from flying for a specified period. This is the second incident of a drunken passenger urinating on a co-traveller in the last few months. A similar incident took place on Air India’s New York-Delhi flight on November 26, in which a passenger named Shankar Mishra allegedly urinated on an elderly woman in an inebriated state.

The incident came to light after about a month through a media report, following which an FIR was registered and Mishra was arrested. He was released on bail after being in jail for about a month. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation had imposed a fine of Rs 30 lakh on Air India for not reporting the incident within 12 hours, as per rules. Delhi Police is probing the matter, while Mishra has been banned from flying for four months.
