Washington: US Deputy Defense Secretary Dr. Kathleen Hicks met National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval here to discuss the US-India bilateral defense partnership. The Pentagon, the headquarters of the US Defense Ministry, gave this information. According to the Pentagon, discussions were also held on deepening coordination in policies and their operations in the Indo-Pacific region and increasing defense industrial cooperation between the two countries.
The Indian Embassy tweeted on Tuesday, “The two discussed a wide range of issues including US-India defense cooperation and regional security.” Hicks reiterated that building alliances and partnerships is a top priority for the department and an integral part of the US national defense strategy, Pentagon spokesman Eric Pahon said in a statement after the meeting. Pahon said that he (Hicks) thanked Doval for India’s leadership in the region. Also discussed ways to deepen coordination between the US and Indian militaries to deal with the increasingly contentious strategic environment in the region.
“The two also discussed opportunities to enhance bilateral defense industrial cooperation through innovative joint efforts between US and Indian companies that are tailored to India’s specific operational needs,” he said. According to the meeting’s readout, Hicks and Doval said they looked forward to working to advance the US-India defense partnership.
