New York: A report in America said that the next global pandemic may come from America. A report by Harvard Law School and New York University is quite frightening. In this report, many dangerous things have been said after examining the interaction between humans, animals and wild animals. The report said that in some countries in Africa and Asia, many diseases are spread by animals, including HIV/AIDS, Ebola, Zika, flu and Kovid-19. These genetic diseases are often blamed on unhygienic conditions, lack of government efforts or unsafe practices in those places. But now because of America also people can get dangerous diseases.

America’s weak rules
The report said that many Americans often think that this cannot happen in their country. But the rules in this country are so weak that one virus or another infectious disease can easily reach people in America from animals. This disease can turn into an epidemic. Ann Linder, one of the authors of the report, said, ‘There is really this false sense of security and unfounded belief that genetic disease is something that is in other places and cannot happen in America. Whereas, I think we are more vulnerable than ever before in many ways.

Infection will increase rapidly
The report also talked about several points of risk, in which commercial farms are at the top. This is because it is the place where millions of animals come in close contact with each other and their handlers. Because of this, any infection from wild animals can easily come in them. Some animals are imported after health checkup. This is followed by the fur trade in which mink and other animals are bred. According to Linder, globalization has destroyed the rest of the natural boundaries of seas, mountains and disease. He said that animals and causes of disease are being mixed in different continents and it is increasing very fast.

import animals easily

Ann Linder said that about 220 million live wild animals are imported into the US each year for pets and other purposes. He told that there is a process if someone wants to bring a dog or a cat into the country. But if someone is an importer and wants to bring 100 wild mammals from South America, he can do so with very simple rules. While this research has been rejected by Ashley Peterson, Senior Officer for Scientific and Regulatory Affairs of the National Chicken Council. They say that according to the CDC, the possibility of a bird disease spreading to a human in the US is extremely rare. While experts say there is a lack of regulations to protect laborers working on pig and poultry farms.
