US military resumes training of Ukrainian forces in Germany: General Mark Milley

Brussels : The US military began a new and expanded combat training of Ukrainian forces in Germany on Sunday with the aim of sending some 500 soldiers to fight the Russians over the next five to eight weeks, General Mark Milley, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, said. A battalion has to be prepared. Milley plans to visit the Grafenwohr training ground on Monday. He is supervising this training.

He said the soldiers being trained had left Ukraine a few days ago. Germany has a whole stock of weapons and equipment for their training. The Pentagon, the headquarters of the US Ministry of Defense, has not yet given any information regarding when this training will start. The purpose of this so-called joint weapons training is to enhance the skills of Ukrainian forces so that they are better prepared to attack or counter Russian attacks. They will learn how to better coordinate with their units and battalions in battle using guns, weapons and ground forces.

Milley told two journalists traveling with him to Europe that the complex training involves new weapons, artillery, tanks and other vehicles being transported to Ukraine that will be vital to helping the country’s forces retake the region.
