Beijing has built artificial islands and military installations in the South China Sea. In its seventh and final recommendation, the ‘Major Staff Report’ called for supporting a strong and democratic India.
“While the administration is right in viewing India as an important security partner, it should be aware of the real complexities of India’s continued ties to and reliance on Russia for defense equipment and, more recently, its democratic values and institutions,” the report said. Security ties have deepened dramatically in recent years, the report said, as both countries grow more concerned about China’s moves.
