The ministry said the US submarine arrived in the southeast port of Busan but did not say how long the submarine would remain there in South Korea’s territorial waters.

After meeting in Washington in April, President Joe Biden and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol agreed that the US would increase its “strategic weapons display on the Korean Peninsula at regular intervals”. Kim Yo Jong, sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, condemned the agreement reached during the Biden-Yoon meeting and threatened to further increase her country’s nuclear power.
