US President Joe Biden told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday that US support for the Gaza war will depend on new steps being taken to protect civilians and aid workers.
Biden and Netanyahu spoke by phone days after Israeli airstrikes killed seven food aid workers in Gaza. After the phone conversation between the two top leaders, the White House issued a statement saying, the President has made clear to Israel the need to take appropriate steps to protect civilians and aid workers.
He made it clear that US policy regarding Gaza will be determined by an assessment of Israel’s immediate action in this regard. Recently, six international aid workers working for the charity group ‘World Central Kitchen’ and their Palestinian driver were killed in Israeli air strikes in Gaza.
