Biden disagrees with the decision
Joe Biden said he disagrees with the much-awaited decision of the Supreme Court on Thursday. He said, ‘We cannot let this decision become the final decision. Discrimination still exists in America. This is not a normal court. He also noted that the decision also included nine justices who were ideologically divided between six conservatives and three liberals.
Education department also against the decision
Education Secretary Miguel Cardona, on the other hand, said the court had taken away a very important tool that used to ensure diversity in the university. He said that no one can deny that Americans, like our college nation, are made up of students as beautiful as diverse. He further said that the White House will issue guidance to universities on how to legally maintain diversity. The Supreme Court ruling included two cases involving admissions at Harvard and the University of North Carolina (UNC). The Court ruled 6–3 against UNC and 6–2 against Harvard.

The judges sided with Students for Fair Admissions, an organization started by legal activist Edward Blum. The organization argued in court last October that Harvard’s race-based admissions policy violates Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color or national origin. Chief Justice John Roberts said, ‘For too long many universities have made the erroneous conclusion that the test of a person’s identity is not the color of their skin, their challenges, skills or lessons learned.’
